As far as I know, SDL plans to release a patch or an SP or something later on this year that will get away from Java. However, I'm not sure if it will be a full-fledged replacement of MT or just a basic glossary module (which is what most users use). [/quote]
This would be a huge step forward as Java is a massive security risk. The reason it gets updated so much is that hackers love to use it to write script and it's very easy to pick up viruses etc - especially if you are forced to use an older version of Java to get Studio/MT to work properly. I'd really love to see SDL move away from Java altogether.
By the way I have the same issue with MT - and it's certainly not the first time this has happened over the years. The workaround kindly provided by SDL support hasn't worked for me - (Windows 7, SDL Trados 2011) - any other suggestions?
