Greeting all,

I am new to SDL trados 2015, I downloaded the trial version for 30 days, as my client wanted the translation to be done on Trados.
I am still trying to familiarising with the studio but I have two very important questions to ask for the time being, the rest will follow:)
I need to know how I can save the projects I work on so I can refer to them for future translation and second and most important I want to know how I can send my project after translating it to my client.

Thank you and looking forward for your answer that will save my day.
Best Regards

Just in case if anyone else might have run into the same problem, the following article from the SDL Knowledge Base has helped me:

Click Start > Run...
Type: services.msc
The Services dialog will open.
Scroll in the list to:
Nalpeiron Licensing Service
Nalpeiron Control Service
Right-click on Nalpeiron Control Service and select Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, switch the Start Up Type option to Automatic.
Click Apply and OK to confirm the changes.
Right-click on the service name again and choose Start.
Repeat step 5 to 8 with the service Nalpeiron Licesing Service.
Close the Service dialog and start Studio again.

Please note that in my case, the error code was
ServiceVersionNotCurrent -65

If you get a different error code upon trying to deactivate your license, you may need to look for a different solution.

Thanks very much Alya for this solution, Studio is now working for me. One thing I am wondering about is that Guillaume said above that he had returned my activation manually, yet my version of Studio is still activated.

Good day!

I am using Trados 2015 and translating a catalog with a large quantity of part numbers and prices.

It seems that Trados does not detect them this way and I need to "touch" every of this segments.

Any idea.

Unfortunately, this "repair" does not allow to repick the languages to use. It seems that it just repeats the installation without stopping (Win 7; SDL Studio 2011)

Hi Cristina,

In order to assist you further could you kindly clarify what file format/version you are working with and what is your MS Office version and Operation System?

If you could also provide more information on the nature of the problem you experiencing at this moment, that would be helpful as well.

Looking forward to hear from you.

cannot replace when regex in find field | the problem in more detail...

Post title: the problem in more detail...

Maybe I should point out the problem in more detail, since nobody reacted:

No problem with any space character (e.g. U2000) or a regex for space characters (e.g. \ p {Zs}) in the find field and another space character (e.g. 00A0) in the replace field. Everything is matching and replacing just fine.

But if I define the space character with a lookbehind (( ? < = \ d) then the replace function does not work, even though it matches the correct characters.

Another try with capture groups in the find field and reference in the replace field also only results partly:
I used this in the find field:
( \ p {Zs} * x \ p {Zs} * ) and
°$1°
in the replace field (° means u202F).

It matches everything correctly. But it only adds the spaces to the x. So if there are already any kind of spaces around the x, they get doubled, because the backreference includes the spaces. Same problem as with include the spaces in the lookbehind. They will not get replaced.

Has anybody an idea for a regex?

Accents not displaying properly in target content

Topic: Accents not displaying properly in target content
Poster: Gabriel Francesch

Hi guys,

I have been experiencing an issue with the way accents are displayed in Trados Studio 2011 for quite some time now, but I have not been able to find a fix yet.

The issue is:

- when translating from English to French, the accents do not show properly, they are replaced by random cyrillic letters,
- this happens regardless of the source file or package I import, for example the problem happens even if I create a new project for a simple .txt file, so I don't think the source document or text format is relevant.
- I have tried fiddling with the options under Tools > Editor > Font Adaptation, but I was not able to modify the appearance of the target content, even when selecting the right language under Custom Language Format.
- as a result, I can type my accents and all special characters when translating (é, à, ç... etc...) but they will not display properly. When I create the target file though, the accents and special characters would be just fine.

Probable causes:

- I am not sure which font Trados uses to display the source and target text by default, but maybe that font collection is incomplete on my computer. I have no idea how to complete that font collection or where the library is located, so I would just like to change the display font.
- I had a similar issue with Transit NXT, and changing the display font to Verdana solved the problem easily. That problem occurred after I upgraded my OS from MAC OS X Yosemite to MAC OS X El Capitan, which is why I think the issue is due to Trados not having access to the appropriate font libraries.

What I need:

I do not need to use a particular font. Any common font would do. I just want the option to choose from a list of common fonts the font that will be used to display my target (and accessorily of the source) content. I have been looking at all the options and menu items, and could not find it...

Thank you for your help!

Computer and software set-up:

- MAC OS X El Capitan
- Parallels Desktop 10
- Windows Pro 8.1
- Trados Studio 2011

I just transferred Trados (2015) to a new machine (Windows 7) and was getting a completely blank term recognition window. In the end all I did was remove all the term bases, close the file in the editor then reopen the file. After adding the term bases - Presto! Hoping that may help some of you out there.

Not sure if it will work for you, but it worked for me once ago,

1. export the update tm just to be safe.

2. change the source ppt (i.e if it was a 2003 save as 2007, if it was 2007 save as 2003)

3. Import again the new ppt in tag editor and run the tm.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

in editor mode there is a bar showing non-translated/draft/translated units. However there is only a chance to show amount in words/characters. Is there possibility to change settings and use let's say pages as well (1800 characters)? I know I can take characters and divide it by 1800 but this is not a point :)

Thank you :)

No. You can double click the bar and switch to display progress by segments instead of (or as well as) words/characters, but not by page.

cannot replace when regex in find field | Answer from another forum

Post title: Answer from another forum

I received this helpful answer in another forum:

About your first regex, it's the same with my Studio 2014: Studio matches but can't replace even if the Replace with field is as simple as foo. (BTW: there are extra espaces and \ in your regex).

About your second regex, I'd say it's the expected behaviour, nothing buggy here.

Maybe you can divide the solution in 2 regexes:

(1/2) This regex will match the X'es:

Find what: (\p{Zs}*)(x)(\p{Zs}*)

Replace with: °$2°

where ° is the non-breakable space

(2/2) This regex will match the in's and mm's

Find what: (\d)(\p{Zs}*)([mi])

or

Find what: (\d)(\p{Zs}*)(mm|in)

Replace with: $1°$3

where ° is the non-breakable space

Anyway, I'd recommend you too the Regex Match Solution Provider (find it here: [url removed] ): You would be able to translate on the fly (which is easier and automatic), not replacing after translation.

Hope it helps.

I have had similar problems. What I do is select Auto Hide from the menu at the right of the Termbase Viewer window. Then, when I add a term it opens, adds the term and closes again.

However, note that if your mouse pointer is over the window when it opens, the window will stay open - that's what governs the Auto Hide function. So keep your pointer away.

With set up described above the window closes automatically in a second or so. Like you I would prefer that it did not open at all but I don't know if that is possible. Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can enlighten us.

Error in TM - Trados 2011 and 2015

Poster: martintrad

Hello, everyone.
I am starting to work for a company that works with Trados 2011. I work with the 2015 version. Today I sent them the first TM to check that everything was running ok. But it wasn't. They told me that they can open the TM but it won't replace in their document the segments that I translated. Is this a common error of compatibility that can be easily solved or do I have to change my software?
Thanks in advance.

Dear SDL Team and colleagues,

I am using Studio 2014 and need to create the final translation for a large translation and all I get is "Missing bookmark start tag". When use the checking feature, I get 3 of this warnings and when I double click on them I get sent to the first segment, which is where the file is stored on my computer (C:\ etc). The content is the same in the source and target segment. What can I do to solve the problem?!

Thanks!

The new Word file type "WordProcessingML v.2" was introduced with Studio 2015 SR2, so you need to have this version. If not, please update to the latest version.

Also check that the file type is activated by going to "File - Options - Filetypes". When you select the node level "Filetypes", you will see a list of all filetypes on the right hand side. Make sure that the file type "Microsoft Word 2007-2016" is (1) checked and (2) precedes the filetype "Microsoft Word 2007-2013".
Studio uses the filetypes in their order of precedence when they are checked and does not use unchecked ones.
This is how you can control which filetype is used to convert your source files to SDLXLIFF.
