PHP files are executable server-side programs for rendering a webpage. They cannot be translated without a full knowledge of coding in the PHP language, otherwise the files and website will most likely not work afterwards.

I would suggest that you ask the client for the website texts that have to be translated, preferably in Word format. Then make clear it's the responsiblity of the webmaster or web developer to insert the translated texts in the right place.

Open your TM in the Translation Memories view.
Click Batch Edit
Go to Add>Find and Replace text.

I recommend making a copy of your TM before you do any editing on it.

Hello experts,

Could you please tell me whether it is possible at all to extract frequent segments from a Trados Studio 2015 file? I tried to locate this feature but in vain. Am I missing something? Suppose if there are 7 same segments in a file, one should remain in file and the other six should be extracted.

I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Hello,

John is right about PHP being a programming language that executes on the server. However, many PHP websites contain simple HTML code with PHP instructions embedded among the HTML, e.g.:

<html>
<head>
<title>Page title</title>
<body>
<?php
... PHP code goes here
?>
<h2>Title 2</h2>
</body>
</html>

In the above example, there is no need to parse the PHP code for strings in order to translate HTML strings like "Page title" or "Title 2".

I know memoQ can translate such PHP files, but I don't know whether Studio can.

This is the real answer now, after loads of digging:

The Language Weaver community server is no longer available for the use of machine translation in Studio 2009.

Note that Studio 2009 reached the end of life (EOL) on June 30, 2014.

If you search other threads, I think you should find that it should work fine.

At least for me it's rather a question if upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10 does work well or not, not if Studio works well or not. (I did try last autumn, an experience I do not want to repeat on my current pc.)

Hello,

Does anyone know if there's a way to auto-populate number only segments in Trados?

I have a file that has a lot of segments like this: [phone removed]

For some reason these segments do not auto-propagate after analyzing the files or during "pre-translate".

I know memoQ has an option to populate then lock number only segments prior to translation. Does Trados have a similar function?

Windows 10 here since last summer. Studio 2015 SR2 for a few weeks, Studio 2014 before that. No problems with either.

You could filter your source segments by using the following expression: [b]^[0-9]*$[/b] and then copy source to target for those segments, or just leave them empty and lock them. They will appear in the clean file as long as you don't confirm empty segments.

I use Trados 2011 Chinese version.

Try "project" - "project setup" - "language pair" - "TM and auto translation" - "auto replace"
In the "auto replace" interface, check the box in front of "number" and restart the program.

It handles Studio packages perfectly.

However, there are restrictions to the size of any embedded Translation Memories:

Hello,

I am doing research on internal fuzzies and I would like to make you a question:

Does anyone know if there is any way to mark internal fuzzies on SDL?

I have found the tool PhraseMiner that is a set of macros that extract the internal fuzzies from a source file into a new Word document. It is not what I am looking for, but at a certain point this may be useful. Does anyone use this tool?
