Dear colleagues,

I have just installed Trados 2019 on a Mac with Parallels and I need to return a small translation by tomorrow.
I keep getting the above message when I try to confirm my target translation: La référence d'objet n'est pas définie à une instance d'un objet.
Moreover, the spell checker is inactive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heinrich, I have not created a memory because it is a very small sample test.

This may be off-topic, but I don't see much point in working in Trados without a TM. Surely, it aligns your paragraphs and it provides some control on missing text and spelling, but...
The point of using Trados is to find similar, already translated patterns. This is done by saving ALL your translations in a reference file that enables searches, i.e., your TM.
That includes tests, which, in my experience, include some difficulties intended to separate the what from the chaff. Sometimes, very useful hints are saved in TMs.
This means that, in my opinion, you don't really use any of Trados's smart capabilities, since without TMs, Trados doesn't have any.

Yesterday I was using Trados 2019 and it worked just fine. No problems at all.
I was comparing files with a colleague, however, and ran a MemoQ repair at some point.
Today Trados will not open - I've tried it from all locations. It runs through all the usual opening windows, but they all close and all I get is a Windows error message saying "The requested data file could not be located".
I am wondering if the MemoQ repair thing had anything to do with it, because otherwise I have no ideas why this is happening.
I have tried "repairing" Trados 2019 in the Programs section of the Control Panel. That is not working either.
What do I do now? Please help!!!

Memoq might have created the problem. I would simply re-translate the file from scratch against the TM you worked on in the original project.

Has anybody configured trados color scheme for better ergonomy and ease of sight?
Lets say as an example: "dark mode"

I am trying:
in Options -> Window:
Background color: Window frame (dark gray)
Text color: Window (white)
Active segment background color: Midnightblue

in Options -> Editor -> Translation Matches Window
Left it unchanged I stilll havent figured out a good combination.

in Options -> Editor ->Concordance Matches Window
Search items highlighting color: steel blue

My goal is to make it easier in the eyes.

What would you recommend?

Hello!

I need to export several not very big TMs for proofing.
Unfortunately, they contain HTML tags and some variables as plain text.

My goal is to transform them into xliff 1.2 cause the Studio file type for it supports embedded content.

Is there a smart way of transforming tmx into xliff 1.2?

Just to add, I exported the content for proofing using Passolo.
It would be great if the Passolo exports in sdlxliff format had some more options as adding embedded content.

Hello everyone

When I do a replace-all with MS Word, after doing all the replacements, Word returns me to the original position in the file. Trados, however, moves down the entire file and then stops at the last replacement. This means that I have to manually scroll back up again to the original position. I have to somehow memorize it and hope I can find it again. Not easy if you have multiple files open and they have lots of semi-repetitions. Is there a trick in Trados to get Trados to return to the segment that I was in when I initiated the find/replace operation?

Hi...
I have a 56000 word tourist guide that I'm translating in Trados Studio 2017. The deadline is tight. The final outputted file will be in InDesign.
Proofreading will be done by my colleague, who does not have Trados.
In order to avoid giving him the whole finished file to proofread all in one go once the job is finished, we'd like to establish a "workflow" whereby I will send him chunks of the job to proofread every few days. In the meantime, I will be ploughing ahead with the translation on Studio. He will then send me back the proofread chunk, inevitably with amendments, and I will import it back into Trados. Once we've finished this process I can then output the final finished file as an InDesign file.

Anyone got any suggestions for the best way to go about this, if indeed it's possible?

My title above is my first suggestion...could I use "Export for Bilingual review", keep only the section he needs to proofread (and delete everything else), send this suitably amended chunk to him, and then import his resulting file back into my .SDLXLIFF?? Sounds fraught with danger to me but I'm struggling to think of any alternatives...

Studio doesn't recognize repetitions of values/numbers. I have to enter manually translations for exact repetitions. As much as I could tell, this regards only segments which contain numerical values.

See screenshot below

Segment 1571 is a repetition of 1570, but why isn't it recognized as such?

In project settings, in Fields and Settings under Recognize check the Numbers option and uncheck the Measurements option.

Thank you Yossi. The TM is on the client's server, and I do not have sufficient permissions to change the settings. But thank you for the advice, I will try it with an offline TM on my next project.
