Hello Umberto, as Samuel said you must ask for a permission. I did it and donwloaded your screenshot. I can paste it here if you want and if you cannot do it.

Kind regards

1. Which version of Trados Studio do you have? Do you have only version 2011, or do you actually have either version 2017 or 2019?

2. Which of the four DeepL apps in the AppStore are you trying to use?

The answer was "Export for Bilingual Review". Then in the "Styles" menu in the resulting Word document, R-click on "Tag" and "Select all instances". Then hit delete. Job done.

I was looking for the same thing as the original poster because I had a Trados package created from InDesign. I couldn't preview it in Trados (I guess because I don't have InDesign) and I had "Tag Soup", which meant proofreading errant spaces (or lack thereof) was extremely difficult. I came across this thread. The HTML solution was great, but I had no segment numbers, which meant painstakingly cross-referencing the document on Trados to find the mistakes.

(Obviously, this doesn't answer the question as to why I couldn't remove all tags in Trados and so proofread it there.)

See also my post #2823703]here. Okay, so you're trying to use ]this app. Well, if you download a "2019" app, it will only work with Studio 2019.

According to the DeepL web site itself and according to the AppStore web site also, the app you're trying to use only has a version for Studio 2017 and 2019. If you want to use DeepL with any other CAT tool (such as Trados 2015), you have to figure out a different way of getting translations into Trados, e.g. extract the source text, translate it in DeepL's Windows client or on DeepL's web site, then use an aligner (such as LF Align) to align the source text with the machine translation, and thus create a TM which you can use in Trados.

The "Finalize" step performs two steps, namely it creates target translations and it updates the main TMs. So, you can use "Finalize" if you want to create target translations, but then you'll also be performing an additional step (update the main TMs). It is perfectly all right to just "Create Target Translations" by itself, without using "Finalize".

(By the way, I find the label "Finalize" to be confusing, because it causes only the main TMs to be updated and not the project TMs. This means that the project TMs will still contain outdated content after you used "Finalize", unless you also use the "Populate project translation memories" step.)
Yes, you're right, only Main TMs are updated if we use "Finalise" option.
I have "Populate project translation memories" activated.
It's good to know there are more than one work around to reach to the same solution, like "Create Target Translations".
Merry Christmas to both!

I'm not sure how this happened. I have 7 documents in a project. I have closed them all and 5 stay "in translation" but 2 have saved and now show "in review" which is annoying because I haven't finished translating them and I'd like to keep track of my progress.

Does anyone have an idea please?

I think the status changes once a segment has been marked as "approved". If you make sure all segments are either not translated/draft/translated, and none are approved, then I think the status returns to "in translation".

This has happened to me before. Sometimes it resets if you restart Trados. You could also try doing a "Translation count" under Batch tasks". Hope this helps you.

Slow computer with Studio

I installed Studio 2019 a couple of weeks ago. Whenever activated it works (very) slow, as does my whole computer, both off- as online, and the fan is making overhours. There are no problems howsoever with Studio 2015 (works normal).

So, I thought it maybe has something to do with my computer, but according to the specifications of Studio, my laptop is suited for the job.

I am a just user, not a computer technician, so I would ask if somebody has an idea or a good advice (other then buying a new laptop) in understandable language?

I have an ACER Aspire E1-771
- Intel Core i5-3230M 2.6 Ghz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2Ghz (whatever that is)
- Intel HD Graphics 4000
- 4GB DDR3 Memory
- 500 GB HHD
- DVD-Super Multi DL drive
- 802.11b/g/n + BT

Thanks

Just make sure no segments are marked as Translation Approved/Translation Rejected or Signed Off/Sign Off Rejected (or whatever the actual status names are--I don't have Trados open at the moment to check), and save your document.

Good luck

Open the files in question, filter on Translation approved

Mark all segments

Right click in the first column, and choose Change segment status > Draft (or Not translated or whatever suits you best)

I think this should solve your problem.

Slow computer with Studio | 4 GB RAM might not be enough

I am not sure about Studio, but I found with MemoQ that the 4 GB of RAM that my computers came with was not sufficient. I upgraded to 16 GB of RAM, by replacing the 4 GB RAM stick with 2 x 8 GB sticks, and it runs like the wind now. Most computers can take much more RAM than they are sold with, which helps data heavy software like CAT tools.

Robert, you may wanna test it by unloading some other unused/bulky software from your RAM to free up some space. Then run your Trados again and see what happens. Do you have some other bulky big-sized graphics software installed? Try removing it if it’s less important to you than the Studio, as a first line of help. Generally speaking, you are looking for at least 8 GB RAM for professional use.

Post title: How to make computer run faster

I do lots of music and video work. When I need more computer power I press Ctrl Alt Delete > start task manager > Processes > then turn off all unnecessary programs running in the background. Make sure you only turn off things that you are 100% you know know what they are and aren't essential. jusched.exe and sidebar.exe can be switched off for example.

Another thing you can do is right click on Computer > Properties > Advanced system settings > Click Performance Settings > then click the tab that says "Adjust for best performance" or custom choose what to turn off or keep. I use custom with only "Show Thumbnails instead of Icons", "Smooth edges of Screen fonts", and "Use Visual Styles on Windows and Buttons".

Clear all your cookies, empty your recycle bin (making sure there's nothing there you want to keep) and make sure you've got no adware or spyware running in the background and slowing your computer down.
If I want to go the extra step I'll disconnect the internet, providing the program used / work I am doing doesn't need it.

As already mentioned a RAM upgrade will help too of course. I upgraded mine a while ago to and my PC could handle more.

Problème avec Trados

Bonjour,
