Dear all,
I have installed SR2 for Trados Studio 2019 today and, just after installation, I cannot open it and get an error message (as per below), which is a HORROR now as I am in the middle of translating a project... any ideas, please?

Hi Jitka

I have a similar problem. I think the way I went around it after searching for an answer was in your control panel - install/uninstall programs - right click and select (I think is fix program or something like that). Trados 2019 came back up for me. I hope it works for you.

Hello,

I am searching for a way to include this word rule for target:

show me an error if this character [ in not at some point of the paragraph followed by this character ]

My try was this \[.*[^\]]

unfortunately it does not work.

any ideas how to achieve that?

I work kwith SDL Trados Studio 2017 and when creating a project I get the error "An error occurred while trying to determine the file version". Instead when I upload that same file as Translate individual document it works OK.

I symply tried negative lookahead [(?!.*\]) and it seems to be working.

however (?=\[)(?!.*\]) is not working.

Could you explain what is the logic behind (?=\[)

Consider what \[.*[^\]] means -> basically find something that is not a close square bracket, which will almost always be true.

(?=\[) -> positive lookahead to find an open square bracket.
(?!.*\])-> negative lookahead to find (the absence of) a close square bracket.

The simple [ matches the presence of a [

In this case you could also write [(?!.*\])
which at least in Studio Find/Replace flags a missing close square bracket.
I often use such regexes to do a quick QA that I invoke from Find/Replace to find inconsistencies

Can someone please help me out with Trados translation memories? I'm finding the whole thing very confusing. I have a large number of projects that I have completed over the years and I'd like to add the translation files to a translation memory so I will get concordance matches for future translations. I have tried running "update main translation memory" on each of the projects, but this doesn't seem to achieve anything. I'm not sure what the "main translation memory" is or where it is saved. I also tried manually creating a translation memory, but I'm struggling to figure out how to actually update this translation memory with the translations I have already completed in the past.

Can someone please help before I tear all of my hair out?

The latest version is not a 2019 SP2, but a 2019 SR2 just released.

And I made a big mistake; the term recognition does not work MOST OF TIME!

I bought the worst of worst choice in my life - buying a trados.

The key difference is "search for" and "match".
In this particular case, either can be used, but the "negative lookahead" is required to "search for" the missing ]

Hi Mark,
To solve this problem you need to:
1. create a new empty TM
2. import into that new TM all the relevant Sdlxliff files you want to include.

The new TM can now be used to replace all the old ones

Hello dear ProZ-community,

I have just installed the latest version of SDL Trados 2019 and a problem has occured. I can only see demo videos of how to use and start Trados. The version is also called SDL Trados Studio trial ressources. This is weird, since I visited the official SDL homepage and clicked on: download testversion. Is anyone is familiar with this problem and can help me out? I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

I am puzzled. Are you sure you have downloaded the version you actually want?
I believe I have the latest version, which is
SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR2 - 15.2.0.1041
SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance
and I downloaded this from my profile page on SDL. I have not downloaded any test version to get the latest version of Studio.
Or perhaps there is something I misunderstand.

Checking I find that there is a trial version which can be downloaded from [url removed]

Is this perhaps the version you are talking about? I see they give the following caveat:
"This trial will not work if you have any other SDL Trados Studio 2019 edition installed or if you have installed an SDL Trados Studio 2019 trial previously."

Don't know if this is any help to you, though.

Hello Roy,

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I have downloaded a 30 days trial version for free. But I can`t use the software, just watch some "How to use SDL Videos". I went on the official German website [url removed] My goal was not to purchase SDL, just to download the trial version and to practice translating with SDL. I am looking forward to your answer.
