I had a similar problem. When I tried to open a file in the editor, I got the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message, and the editor would just shut down immediately. I could do anything else with the project - batch tasks, export a return package - just not open the editor! Which was a pain in the extreme lower back because I had finished the translation and only needed to insert my own changes.

I tried all the solutions I could find on the internet, re-imported the original package from the client, added my own return package, to no avail.

Then in the "Files" view I tried this:

- Right-click the .SDLXLIFF file and choose "Open With".
- Choose to open it in SDL Trados Studio (duh!).
- Make a change (and change the document back).
- Save the .SDLXLIFF and close the editor.
- Try to open the file for translation again. It opened like a charm.

The drawback is, I had to re-add all TMs and termbases. :(

I actually corrupted the custom spellchecker back in September or October 2015. I've restarted Studio many times since then, and this hasn't fixed the problem.
Thanks for the tip, Mike. I've tried file restore, but that folder couldn't be restored.
Maybe I should have phrased the original post a little more clearly: as far as I'm aware, my entries file (CUSTOM.dic) still works because my spellchecker does not flag words I've previously added (e.g. major German cities).
It's the configuration file (customdictionary_config.xml) that I think I've corrupted. I provided a screenshot of my configuration file in the original post. I think that some lines of code are missing from it.

Hi

I am trying out SDL AdaptiveMT in Studio 2017 and find the suggestions take a long time to appear in the Translation Results window, sometimes a full minute, for segments of 20-30 words. I was wondering if this is standard behaviour, have you noticed a "lag" getting suggestions from Language Cloud?

Also, do you know whether when applying the pre-translate with AdaptiveMT feature this send the whole document for pre-translation or can you send just the segments under a certain fuzzy (say 75%)?

When You create project, You can mark the checkbox "Export Frequent segments" and put "2" in it. If the project is already created, just go to Batch tasks and Analyze - You will find the same screen.

After finishing the process You will find SDLXLIFF files with repetitions (occurring 2 or more times within the project) in the project folder ("Exports" subfolder) - usually (My) Documents -> Studio 2015 -> Projects etc.

One of my clients plans to write a new documentation in AsciiDoc, a markup language similar to Markdown or Wikitext, but a bit more versatile. Studio 2017 has no native support so far. Does anyone have some experience with translating AsciiDoc files?

Daisy,
sorry, I have confused the file CUSTOM.dic with the one you have shown above. My file is exactly the same, no ommissions or additions, but I must say I'm not using the dictionary. I don't think it's because of a corrupt xml file.
If the content of CUSTOM.dic is really important for you I'm afraid you will have to use a file recovery program like "Active@ File Recovery Professional", this one has saved my day several times and doesn't cost too much. I think you can use it in demo mode for a single file recovery.

Creating voice commands is only possible if you have a either a professional version of Dragon, or KnowBrainer (a Dragon add-on), so, in other words, it can be done if you have the right software.

Hi!

I have received a package SDLPPX and I have Studio 2011. When I try to open the package I get the following error message:
"El paquete XXX no se puede abrir porque contiene idiomas que no están configurados para la instalación", something like "Package XXX cant be opened as it has languages nof configured for installation".

The translation is En to Es and my Studio has these languages. Am I missing something?

Aside from asking directly your client, you could try opening the file with an archive manager, such as 7-zip. This way you'd be able to see the folder structure, including the language pair, to see if there's a problem with that.

You are right. There is a folder fr-FR when it should be es-ES.
Didn´t want to bother the client without making sure it wasn´t me being slow (headache is killing me).

I have this [isDefault="true"] included after dict fileNameRoot:

What makes you say you have corrupted the spellchecker?
Have you seen this: [url removed]

I think I would personally swap out/use copies of CUSTOM.dic for different projects while keeping the original file name (i.e. default) but I have never wanted to add more than just my one custom.dic.
You can also open custom.dic as a text file in notepad/text editor and manually copy/paste/delete entries. You should be able to see which ones are part of your current project; they are added at the bottom of the list.

Hello everyone!

Please help to solve this problem:

Necessary to create a translation memory by using the alignment in Trados 2014. Some sentences are approved by the client and in the further use of translation memories such sentences (segments) should be in priority (ie, should be used precisely these segments without changes). So, how to create such priority for the desired segments, is there for this any tool or how to solve it?

I would be grateful for any help!

When using "verify document" on a completed file, with a client-provided termbase, in the list of warnings, the message
"Target segment does not contain the translated term for "sample" - "voorbeeld" expected."
is shown 4 times each time, instead of just 1 time. I had this in SDL 2015, and now in SDL 2017 I am having the same problem. In the past, each warning was shown just once, which is obviously a lot more convenient when you have to go through an entire list of warnings generated by the document verification.
Is anyone having the same problem? Does anyone know how to resolve this to get back to just one instance of the warning being shown again?

AsciiDoc ist eine vereinfachte Auszeichnungssprache, die dazu dient, Texte in verschiedenen Dokumentenformaten zu veröffentlichen. AsciiDoc-Dateien können entweder nach HTML oder ins DocBook-Format konvertiert werden – und von dort dann ggf. weiter in viele andere Formate, z. B. PDF oder Manpage. Das Konvertierprogramm asciidoc ist in Python geschrieben und steht unter der freien GNU General Public License (GPL).
