Trying to install Trados on a new computer

Hi,
I am trying to install Trados on a new computer. I have logged into my translation zone account but can only see a cancelled order. I know i have bought trados 2014 so I'm confused. I need to install Trados 2014 with the product key so I can get on with a project. Could someone from SDL pleaae help me. Thanks

Hi James,

Please access your SDL online account with email address you have used at the time of purchase. If you forgot your password please use - 'Forgot password' function.

I can confirm that you have the Studio 2014 Freelance in your account/licenses.

Once accessed you will be able to Return your Studio 2014 activation via Force Return option:

[url removed] #tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:5196

Then download the software on a new supported PC, install and activate with the same license code.

Unfortunately when I logged in I went to the licenses section but it says I have no licenses. It is possible I have another account but I can't remember the email address. Please could you help.

Could you tell me what is the operating system of your computer and what is the file format of the text you are trying to open when you receive this error message?

... is the operating system and the file format is Word (.docx). All projects have disappeared from the SDL window but not from their folders, so they are not lost. I just can't open them anymore, even when I double click the project file in Explorer.

Hi, there is way to use new docx files (xlsx, pptx) in SDL Trados Studio 2014, just open that file with 7-zip, and from docProps folder extract app.xml, there is 16.0000, change 16 to 15 save and replace it back. Now your file is ready to use.

One problem is that, if you have many Office 2016 files, you will have to repeat these steps for all files.

Hello,

I have a problem with a xliff file.

My computer suddenly stopped (battery was off) and when I reopened Trados, it offered the possibility to retrieve the last version (that I had no saved). But this created a problem: it appears that the file is only 53% translated although it's actually entirely translated.

And now when I'm trying to create the target file in the same original format (xliff), it's not working. I get the following error message: "collection modified enumeration operation may not execute".

Anybody has an idea how I can fix this?

Upgrade Studio 2011 Professional to 2015 Professional with license server

We have 2 licenses for Studio 2011 Professional and upgraded 1 of them to Studio 2015 Professional (second to follow).
After the Upgrade, however, I cannot see the upgraded license in the account (upgraded about 1 hour ago).
And the Studio 2015 Professional now installed on one PC does not accept the license.

We have a license server here, which I do not have direct access to (but it can be accessed via an external IT service provider). The SDLLicenseServerManager (latest version) is currently not installed on the license server (but I guess some kind of license server manager had been installed when we received Studio 2011...

Operating system: Windows 7.

What has to be done?

Update:
The license is availabe now. But it still says "Activation not allowed as remaining quantity is 0", when I try normal online activation.

I have recently taken the Mulitterm Webinar. I understood it well but have one very basic question:

after having started a new Termbase, I want to open it in Trados, to use it on my ongoing translation.
I have tried to, but it does not work.

sdltb, mtd, all formats. It just does not load.

Can anyone explain me the steps?

You need to open the Trados Home menu > Options > Language pair > [select TM, select TermBase].
MultiTerm is independent of Trados but it shares the TermBase with Trados for translation.

There are many times translators need to insert an endnote to help the reader gain more from the text. For example, we might add a note to include the source language equivalence of a word or elaborate on an issue in an academic instructive text.

I think Trados should add this feature to its software.
