Dear all,
I've just come across this for the first time with SP2.
Shft+Ctrl+U doesn't work.
The hint in the SDL Knowledge Base -- first clear the target segment -- is not working for me

Any ideas?

I'll have to see how I can get the IT department to allow me to use OpenExchange plug-ins - as our IT policy is particularly stringent - but I do like the look of AnyTM.

Trados is proving less and less dependable. So we are forced to choose between a slow and complicated Java app and an unreliable (=unusable) terminology tool.

I am glad I did not apply the update right away. However, I thought that in a couple of months most of the serious problems should have been solved. If I understand correctly it is not so. I guess I will leave MT SP2 in quarantine for quite a few months more.

Now I wonder: would it be possible to upgrade to SP2 Trados only (and get support for alphanumeric strings and the other advantages prospected) while keeping Multiterm to SP1? And would this help avoiding all the problems emerging here?

Thank you for your answer, Walter! The document is not fully pre-segmented. So how do I pre-segment it? Can I do it in Trados Studio 2011, or is it possible to do it only in Wordfast Classic, as Linh suggested?

I have a similar problem in that on occasional projects when I want to check concordance, it's greyed out and says there are no TMs open. It doesn't always happen, but it has today - obviously there is a TM open, i.e. the one I'm using. When I exit, the TM updates successfully, so I must be missing something. I go to Projects and make sure the TM is allocated to this project, but concordance is still greyed out. ?

Just FYI, this is a standing issue we have with Studio 2011 as well.
I'm just now researching under which circumstances the duplicates are created.

So far it seems that there is a difference if the update is made in a package and then imported, or if the update is made directly in the project managers version of the project. In the latter case the last version of the segment gets updated (but not any previous duplicates).

Any type of package import i have tried leads to duplicates.
(updated return package from same translator project, new project package created and opened as separate project at translator, then returned the usual way. All using different user as "translator" of course)

Right now I'm comparing sdlxliff/project files to see what triggers the different behavior when doing an update as project manager.

This has been creeping in to our TMs for a long while without notice (possibly since we started using Studio?), and is now starting to cause lots of grief. Our customers wonder why their previously corrected segments are regressing to the previous version, and the analyses (spelling?) shows 99%-ers where there should only be 100% matches.

We've tried getting help from support before (I think while we still had a contract), but they dismissed it or didn't understand the question. I think the gist of it was that or workflow was non-standard in some way, but i fail to understand how that can be (I didn't contact them personally, so I may have got it wrong). Everyone needs to update a segment now and then.

I understand the issue may be a different one in 2014 compared to 2011, but the symptoms are very very similar. If anyone could reproduce the behavior (making the update as "project manager") above on 2014 please update the thread. I don't have access to 2014 personally.

Paul, let me know if you want a step by step on how to reproduce this in 2011 (assuming it's the same issue).
I've tested extensively and can give you our project template to ensure we have the same settings.
I feel this is a serious issue that potentially is costing your clients money. In our situation at least, where we have automation external to Studio, we have to sidestep our normal workflow to get correct updates with no duplicates.

Facing the same problem, I took note of the bookmark name specified by Trados. In Word 2007, I opened the source file, and visited the Insert ribbon, and selected the Bookmark menu at the Links box (around the middle top).

Deleting the problematic bookmark -- just one bookmark in my case, saving the source, and re-preparing (by deleting the old target file first) the translation did me good.

In my case, the bookmark was non-essential. This may not work well if the number of problematic bookmarks is significant (I guess > 5). The bookmarks may also have to be recovered in the target file.

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some advice from the experts here…I have downloaded a trial version of Studio 2014 a few days ago. It worked fine for 2 days, unit I restarted Windows (7), after that the program did not open, giving me the Error message: active license:SDL Studio 2014 Professional, the active license does not support this version of the program. And the the button to deactivate the program. Now I can't do that as I don't have an activation key in the first place (trial version).
However, I went ahead and purchased the Studio2014 Starter Pack, installed the whole thing again, the system tells me that the set-up was successful, but the problem persists, I can't open Trados or activate my new license, as it asking me to deactivate the trial version first. Where can I get the deactivation code though?

I've searched the net and knowledge base but I don't find anything on that at all, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm running the program via VWWare on Mac if thats of interest at all.

Hi! I would log onto my page on the SDL web site and manage my lisences there. You may find that the trial version is listed there, and that you can deactivate the trial lisence.

The problem does sound suspiciously like you have got some problems on your machine though. Perhaps running a deep virus scan on startup of Windows? This could take some hours, though, so I would advice doing that during the night, when you don't use the PC anyway.

Thanks Roy. I've already checked my SDL page, the trial version does not show there. And a virus...I don't know. As I said, I'm using a virtual machine on Mac, just installed 1 week ago and nothing els but Windows 7 and SDL installed. I do everything else on the Mac side, is it likely to catch a virus this easy? I really don't have much idea about PC I'm afraid.
But will try the virus scan as you suggested, thanks.

No worries, you have an easy solution.
You're entitled to SDL support for installation problems.
Reach them on their site, there is a wizard that takes you to some fields to fill in so you are contacted by Support.
As I've read in other posts, you should best use Chrome to contact SDL for your problem, as the wizard runs properly on Chrome, although not in IE.

I've encountered this problem ocassionally, not always.
Only guessing, but could it be because we have two or more TMs linked to a project and some of these TMs don't get updated during translation?

No, this wasn't it I'm afraid. I just noticed that I logged a quote with the sales team which is not what I intended. Whatever I do, as soon as I go to "Visit Licensing and Installation Help" I'm told that without the appropriate plan I'm not entitled to the assistance and get referred to the Solution Finder and Knowledge base only…and I've read through a lot there...
I have no idea how to actually get in touch with someone, is that really only possible if I buy extra support?

Go to the Knowledgebase and if you really can't resolve your problem using the self service options follow this route.

Licensing Problems
- I use SDL Trados Studio / SDL Passsolo - 2011 or 2014

---- None of the provided solutions worked, or are relevant for me (if they didn’t!)

Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

Dear Trados Studio team,

although I have a Trados Studio 2014 Plus license, when trying to buy another license as an upgrade to 2014 the Shopping Cart claims that I have no license, and removes it. Live Chat is not available.

I have a deadline to meet on Monday, and therefore need this 2nd license urgently. My desktop is unavailable for de-activating.

To purchase an upgrade it shouldn't matter whether your licenses are in use or not. Maybe you're using a different email/account to access the shop?

Check in My Account to see how many licenses you are using / have available. You could also try returning your license using this method:

I think Live Chat is only available Mon-Fri, so you'll have to wait until after the weekend.
