pdf in trados 2014 | Can you share a screenshot?

What's confusing me here is that bold, and any formatting, is [u][b]always[/b][/u] controlled by tags. So you will always have to handle them, either by transferring the formatting when working in wysiwyg or by transferring the tags.

Maybe if you share a screenshot it will be clearer what you are referring to. Maybe your pdf has converted with additional tags?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find any useful help.

When I started Studio 2014 to work on a new package everything looked normal, but when I tried to save the first segment I got the messegae "TM update failed" and when I clicked into the next empty segment I got the error message mentioned above.

I am still using the initial version of Studio 2014 and won't upgrade since according to the information on the new version this would require Java 8 which won't work with Windows XP which I am still using (and I don't intend to change that at the moment).

I would be grateful for any ideas how to solve that.

Please disregard my question, I found the solution just after posting this ;)

Klicking on the View tab and then on Reset Window Layout did the trick for me, at least for the time being.

Hello,

I am working on a package in Studio 2014 and I can't export the target file.

An error saying that a tag is missing in one of the segment is preventing me from exporting the target file.

I tried to copy the source in the target segment without translating but the error is still here. Same thing when I try to translate "around" the formatting tags.

The file used in the package is a .docx but only source document I have is a .pdf so I can't work on it to repair the error.

What is really strange is that the tag that is "missing" (a tag for an illustration) doesn't exist, even in the source segment.

Does anyone have any idea how I could resolve this problem?

Maybe it will be possible to save the source file and then you can try and fix it and retranslate that way.

I can also take a look at the file if you are allowed to share it with me? If so send me the fully translated sdlxliff.

Thank for your help Paul.

I tried to export the source but the same error appears.

Could the package in itself be at the source of the problem? Because in this case I guess there is nothing I can do. I'll contact the PM first thing tomorrow.

And unfortunately I am not allowed to share the document with you but thank you for your help.

Hi there. A client has sent me a TM export from Deja Vu in .txt format and I need to convert it to a TM that I can use in Trados Studio 2011. Any instructions out there for this? The text format looks like:

Should I import into a Workbench TM and then upgrade to Studio? There must be some kind of shortcut, no?

Dear Trados users,

I have been sent several .docs lately that contain changes that have neither been accepted or rejected, and Trados Studio 2014 will apparently not accept such documents (I've gotten error messages to that effect). Is there a way around this?

An annoying problem...

While working on Studio 2014 text often becomes highlighted as having spelling etc. mistakes with the jagged red line beneath (as in Word) when there is evidently no mistake in the text. This happens frequently, maybe in as much as 5% of segments andhas the serious effect of "masking" genuine mistakes.

It happens on all source file types (.doc, .ppt, .ttx etc), occasionally it "rights itself" and disappears, most often it doesn't. The jagged line doesn't always correspond to individual words and right clicking doesn't bring up any suggestion for correction. When you run F7, these sections do not appear.

This has happened on and off since 2009. There doesn't seem to be any explanation for it. I think sometimes it happens when the segment has a lot of tags in it / starts with a tag, but not necessarily (as in your example).

The way I deal with it is to click Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, (i.e., select all, copy, paste). The squiggly red lines disappear.

Not a good solution, I know.

Yes, I have tried accepting the changes to no avail. I've also tried saving the document under another name, cutting and pasting the document to a blank document and saving that, etc.

Dear SDL support,

Thanks for your answer and help. I will try this solution if this happens in the future.

By the way, what would you recommend for a good Trados tutorial? There were many, many terms and concepts in this article with which I was unfamiliar, and I have the feeling that I have barely scratched the surface of this CAT tool.

Hi,
I wonder whether anyone has come across anything like this before. I'm working on a ppt file (urgent, naturally - I only seem to get software problems on urgent jobs!).
The bilingual file won't save, either via save or save as. I get an "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message.
However, I can both preview and save the target file, which seems pretty odd!
It's not the end of the world - so long as the TM is updating OK I can just recreate the bilingual file each time I need to shut down the programme - but it's pretty unnerving all the same.
I'd be really grateful for any solutions.

I am working with several ASP files from my client. The problem is that Studio does not recognize any of the code, apostrophes in the English sentences break a segment into a new line, and the sentences get mixed up. Not to mention the completely wrong wordcounts.

On another note: I am actually prepared to pay a PSMA. I wrote SDL last week and the week before, asking to be contacted and informed about PSMAs. Nobody is calling me back. I find this a bit dissapointing, I must say. Not the best advertisement for a service contract...

could someone please help with this issue - I exported the file for external review and I can`t import it back. It just says Multiple paragraphs detected in segment #128.
Everything seems to be ok with the segment #128, I have tried everything, don't know what to do now...
