Dear colleagues,

I am encountering a Tag display problem on SDL Trados 2014 and I don't really know how to describe it with words, but I think (from my experience with other CAT tools) that it is related to a problem with JRE (maybe a recent update).
Basically, I am getting one tag per letter, which makes it quite difficult to read the sentence; If I can't find a solution to this problem, well, I'll have to translate manually...
So, I would really appreciate to get someone's help to solve this problem.

... a file that has been converted from a PDF perhaps. So you have kerning between the letters which will be represented by a tag with pretty much any CAT tool other than one that works inside Word.

... the termbase contains some languages your instance of Studio doesn't support. MultiTerm can be multilingual. Can you open the termbase in MultiTerm? If you can, then maybe consider using the Glossary Converter from the OpenExchange to create a new termbase with only the languages you require?

Another thought... even though you get this message, can you set the languages as they should be in the Termbase settings? So where you see the languages, can you set them so they are all recognised? Look in [b]Project Settings -> All Language Pairs -> Termbases[/b] and then adjust the languages as required.

Thank you for your answer.

Apparently, I solved the problem by updating Java. The display is now OK, however, it still doesn't recognize words as such, hinting at the hidden tags...
Anyway, I a can at least read the text, which is very handy to translate :).

Hi Fanny,

As long as your field names match then when you create your MultiTerm XML to import you should be fine and you can import a bilingual glossary into a more complex termbase.

Feel free to drop me an email with your termbases (if that's ok for you) and I'll be happy to take a look.

It's real pain for this bug. EX: Typing VNI-Helve for Vietnamese but SDL Studio displays the text in Times NR --> Can not read what I'm typing --> translating like a blind man :)

Hi

I have never used TM software before so please forgive my ignorance.

I recently downloaded SDL Trados Studio 2014 and am currently trying it out for Arabic to English translation. My problem is that when it brings the Arabic document (from Word) into the Editor it breaks down the source into these blocks of text of about 2-3 lines each. The problem with this is that the TM will only display a match if the exact same 2-3 lines are repeated in the document which rarely happens.

What is repeated is a few terminologies (1-2 words) or phrases (4-6 words)

Is there any way to solve this or is this how TM software works?

I tried every methods mentioned above, but failed. Finally I followed Quoc's suggestion.

Go to Control panel-> Add remove or uninstall section -> right click multiterm -> select 'repair'. Then multiterm works for the first time. Great !.

As your translation memory (TM) is new, it won't give you many matches. That happens over time (I'm talking about months or years). So you need to be patient.

In the meantime, if you think you've translated part of a block of text (segment) before, then highlight those words in the source text, click F3 and see if Studio will find a partial match within a segment (this is the concordance feature).

I do recommend reading up as much as you can to make good use of your new software. The "Getting Started" tab in the Welcome view is a good place to start.

I hoped opening my translation in "revision status" would help me but I see after a few segment that it is a mess. So I would like to come back to translation status. There I cannot make any changes to what I already change in status "revision".
My question is : is it possible to come back to the "translation mode" and cancel all what I have done in the "revision mode" ?

Win 7 x64
Studio 2014 FL Plus (upgraded from 2011).

I had 2014 set up, activated and running normally. Yesterday, after a computer restart (I usually just have it on sleep when not in use), instead of launching the software, I get the licensing dialog, telling me that the software is "not licensed". Trying to (re-)enter my license key elicits the response that the license cannot be activated because it is "already in use on another computer". My Account tells me one activation is in use, but I have only ever activated it on the single machine where it is now saying that it is not licensed. There are no numbered or coded error messages, just what I've described above: was active, licensing dialog says not licensed My but Account says I have it activated, cannot reactivate.
Anybody else have similar problems?
Any ideas?

Hello,
I wanted to try using an auto-suggest dictionary in Trados Studio 2014.
I accessed the site and found the dictionary I wanted to try (European Union AutoSuggest dictionary English US - Italian).
When I select "download" I am asked to log in, and then "Page not found" appears.
I tried the same with other AutoSuggest dictionaries from the same section, with the same result. What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,

I've installed Parallels on Mavericks. My Windows 7 virtual machine works just fine, I was able to install TRADOS Studio 2011, 2014 and many other PC software tools.

You can also set up a BootCamp partition on your mac to run Windows natively.

I have exactly the same problem with SDL site since a longer time: I use Opera, and though the pop-up windows are not blocked, they simply do not show. However, everything works fine in Internet Explorer.

I have asked about any other plugins to replace the multiterm earlier.

I would like to ask users to share their opinions about any other ways to manage terminology.

Last time I heard about term injector. Does anyone use anything else.

Honestly, I am completely disappointed in multiterm, as again and again the terms are not displayed in the term recognition window and I don't know what to do about that. (I have settings: two ticks, 30-999-20 in multiterm). I would just add a term and the term would not be displayed in the term recognition window. I have tried to add a larger portion of this segment and this way this portion is displayed in the term recognition window.

Thank you for your hint.
Assuming it was a browser related issue, I tried to access from Trados Studio 2014 itself, from the Welcome screen and from there it did work, even though it still used Firefox to connect.
While if I access the site directly from the browser, searching SLD translator zone and then accessing the App Store, it will just display the "Page not Found" message.

I'm not sure. Someone ran into problems with this last week:

If you actually upgrade, you'll be able to run both versions side by side, but it seems the trial version may cause licensing problems.

I wouldn't do it unless you're in between projects and it's a working day so you can get support from SDL if you need it. (NB, today's a bank holiday in many parts of Europe).

I just experienced the same issue just now with SDL Trados Studio 2014 and confirm that by doing Batch Tasks --> Update Main Translation Memories and shutting down SDL Trados Studio 2014 entirely. When I reopened the project, it functions without any problem. Please note when you exit there is a dialog box that appears that asks if you want to reopen the file you are working on. Just click No to completely shut down the software.
