Thank you for your suggestion. However it doesn't apply to Trados 2017 nor 2019 as there is no Advanced option under Editor. Interesting to note that Trados programmers omitted to add this feature to the keyboard shortcuts.

So it's tricky to understand if it is selected or nor. But it's right there in Studio 2019.

I got a new laptop and am busy installing everything I need. When I login to sdl.com, go to the 'downloads' section and click the 'download' button next to Trados Studio 2019 and MultiTerm 2019 nothing happens (except for a flicker and maybe a browser tab opening and closing right away). The alternative FTP link doesn't work, too.

PS Elena, I'm surprised that in Italian "tag" isn't translated as "faro". It has the same objective although it's another domain.

It sounds as if your new laptop's new browser is not set up correctly. Instead of left-clicking the link, try right-clicking the link and selecting the option to download. Alternatively, it may be that your browser is in fact already downloading the files to its default location, which is often something like your Downloads folder (e.g. C:\Users\YourName\Downloads). Which browser do you use?

What is it about Translation Memory view that bothers Trados so much? EVERY time I try to open the TM view, Trados stops responding. And it doesn't respond for hours! Restarting it doesn't help a bit. Is there any way to convince Studio 2021 to work, and open TM view WHILE translating? Or I am asking for too much?!?!?...

Hi,
I use Trados 2019 and can't create an return package because of an "erreur de validation" (validation error); the message is following:"erreur de validation SDL XLIFF à la ligne 323984, décalage 6038, la combinaison de clés xxxxxxxx dans Keyref xxxxxxxxx ne fait référence à aucune clé". The source file is a SDL Trados Studio project package 37 000 Ko. The file contains 1632 segments.
Really impossible to understand. Do somebody has a solution for this issue?

Are you able to save the target? If so, maybe you can send the target file and the xliff file to the project manager. I’ve had similar problems. In my case, the project manager was able to work with the xliff file.

Hello,
I am having a real problem that is bothering me very much with the dates to be autoplaced in Trados.
There are various date formats in the source (German) for the target (English). The one that is causing trouble (meaning it is not recognized by Trados and I need to type it all the time) is 01. August 2021. It is not placing this. It can place 1 August 2021 and the short dates but simply nothing with a leading zero. :/
I went into language resources for the TM and added this date format even as 01 August 2021 in English, which I personally do not use but it is still not recognizing it. The date format with the leading zero is in the DE format already, so I do not understand what the problem is.
Does anyone know? Many thanks!

Trados has problems with some date formats. My solution is to write a regex to make the correct conversions or correct the "automated" conversions.

Dear all,
- Primary PC: SDL Trados Studio 2021 Freelance Plus
- Backup PC: SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus
I am replacing my backup PC and wish to activate 2019 (not 2021!) on the new one.
However, I cannot deactivate Studio 2019 Freelance Plus on the old machine, instead I get an error message:

"Failed to deactivate.Lofing for this product key has been restricted."

I would like to try the option to deactivate offline, but my account shows only 2021 and my older licenses, not 2019. So I can't deactivate it.

Even if I try to deactivate my 2021 license, an error occurs.

Any ideas?

Hi,

You are not saying whether you bought Studio 21 as an upgrade to 19, or as a separate installation. Because if it is an upgrade, you certainly loose your 2019 version once you activate 2021. However, it can remain active on a PC until you uninstall it (or the PC fails). Then it is lost completely.

Dear Colleagues,

I work with Transit plug for several years. Now I have received a Transit project with subfolders and Studio cannot create a project. After clicking on "creating project" nothing happens.

Is there help or is it not possible to work on Transit jobs with several folders in Studio?

The Transit project is based on indesign files.

I had the same issue yesterday while setting up a new laptop. If you launch a chat using the link in your SDL account, someone will be able to assist you and probably reset the license in a couple of minutes.

As for the versions, you can perfectly run 2021 and 2019 together, although it depends on your particular product configuration (my 2021 entry in the license pane says "With:Allow Studio 2019 - Add-on"). The tricky part is that only Studio 2021 is listed in your account and can be activated or deactivated. I was told that after installation, 2019 would start in trial but "pick up" the 2021 license and never expire.

Hi Susanne
Haven't got a first idea of how Studio deals with Transit stuff, but on looking into the "Create new project" window of Studio there is a tiny box in the middle right that you have to tick in order to import subfolders. Maybe that could help.

Thanks for your reply.

The Transit package is opened by using Transit plug-in "Open Transit Package". I do not create a new project so there is no possibility to chose subfolders.
