Hi there,

I have the same issue, and I have tried opening the file with Notepad but it's not obvious to me which parts have to be deleted... Could you help?

Thanks in advance!

it allows you to use TMs with different language variants. As far as I know, the TMs are updated normally.

I have the same problem. It started to appear after installing the latest update "SDL Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.10016.54660".

When you use the toggle to show whitespace characters in the editor (whether by pressing Alt+P or clicking the inverted P button) nothing happens; if invisible characters were visible, they remain visible, and vice-versa. Although the toggle button will show the chosen selected/unselected state.

Workaround:
The clumsy workaround I discovered is to close the editor window (by clicking the x sign in the corner) and then reopening the file in the editor again. Then the display will reflect the last toggle action correctly (i.e. showing whitespace if the toggle is selected and vice-versa).

Seems nobody has the answer and i did not find any in the various hep topics.

So my problem is simple, i have to clean a TM that has registerd translations from several translators.
Some of the translation units have been translated differently and i need to delete some to keep only one
but i cannot fine a way to organize the transltion so i will have the same source unit with all the target translation.
Is there a way to do it?

If so, let me know

Post title: Backup & test

1. Create a copy of the SDLPROJ (just copy & paste in File Explorer)
2. Open it in Notepad or Notepad++
3. Search for the target language code you need to delete, like "en-US"
4. Delete from [minor than character]LanguageDirection
up to [minor than character]/LanguageDirection> (both strings included)
5. Save it
6. Test if it works in Studio
7. If it works, fine! Otherwise, delete this edited SDLPROJ and re-start with step 1. Always work with a backup.

PS1: You may find mores instances of the target language, ie, in the Termbase section. Yo may need to delete them as well, so you can try. Remember to delete full sections, from the opening tag to the ending tag.
PS2: [minor than character] is the character minor than < . PROZ deletes them so I had to depicte them somehow.

Hello Alaa,

Thank you for your tip. This a good temporary solution.
However I'm disappointed that it takes SDL so long to fix that issue :-(.
The problem still hasn't been solved :-(.

I'm having a problem when autopropagate is activated, it's a bit hard to describe but here goes:

I am reviewing a document. There are two identical segments, segment 1 and segment 2. I approve segment 1 (Translation Approved) and go on to segment 2. Segment 2 automatically gets approved but the status of segment 1 automatically reverts to Translated.

Is there some sort of setting I have wrong?

Try setting Autopropagate forward only.

I'd be very careful using Autopropogate as it can screw up a good translation.
Not sure about using it in forward mode only as I've never used it since it came out and I realised how it inserts things it thinks are right but may actually not be.
Some of my clients have sent out a warning to all the people they work with not to use it.

Problem with xlf file

Hi everyone,

I am technologically challenged and I need your help!

A new client sent me the text to be translated both as an rtf and as an xlf file. I have never worked on either formats before as my clients usually send me Word, pdf or xliff files.

I have used the xlf file (bilingual table of segments) in Trados Studio 2015. I didn't have any problem importing the file into Trados and translating it, but somehow I can't deliver it back to the client in xlf. I can only save it as an xliff but the client does not use Trados. I also tried to "save target as" an xlf but the client says it gives her an empty file.

It might be pretty basic stuff but I am not very good at the technological side of translating! ;) Can anyone help please?

Just try to translate the RTF file. Use the same TM and it will pre-translate the file, than you can "Save the source as".
Good luck

Thank you for your help, Amnon.
I ended up copy-pasting my translation from Trados onto the rtf file. It was fairly painless, the only annoying thing was that I had to add all the placeables manually.
So mission accomplished, but I am still working on a more efficient strategy for next time!

Post title: problem with concrete regex number code

Hello everyone,

I am struggling to find out an error in my regex rule for numbers. Does anyone spot the problem?

Source text: (voir points 15-19)

Correct Target text: (Glej točke od 15 do 19.)

Regex source: \(voir points (\d{2})-(\d{2})\)

Regex target: \(Glej točke od $1 do $2\.\)

Condition: Report if source matches but not the target.

The problem is that I get an error, although everything is ok with target text.

Post title: QA number error

Studio provides 8 conditions for regex validation.
Depending on the specified condition, either the source/target regexes must match (as in your case) or the content must match, for example a parsed number in the source, such as (\d+) must have the matching number in the target, such as $1 (where 1 is the corresponding capturing group number). To perform a validation with capturing groups, the Grouped ... condition (with the appropriate regex) must be specified. This is your error - you have mixed the two conditions.

Hello collegues,

I'm working at a project with many terms in the termbase I created. Now, when I run the Verify feature, I get other errors but I don't get the terminology errors.

Maybe there is something wrong in the Termbase, but I've created it as usual.

Thanks for helping me

Anne, next time you work with a xlf file, click on Batch Tasks and select "Generate Target Translations" option. That will save the fine in the same format as the file you originally "loaded" into Trados.

How to translate keyword entries in MadCap Flare files?

Topic: How to translate keyword entries in MadCap Flare files?
Poster: Alex Lichanow

Hello everyone!

I have translated a huge software manual project in SDL Trados Studio 2017, consisting of HTML and FLSNP files from MadCap Flare.

However, it turns out that I omitted the keyword entries in the topic HTML files since those seem to be protected by Flare's HTML structure.

When opening the files in EmEditor, it displays something like this:

][img] [/img]

The keyword entries are contained within header entries, and while I can translate the header entry ("Schichtprotokoll anzeigen und bearbeiten" in the above example), the keywords remain uneditable.

During my initial translation run, where I was not aware of those keywords, I omitted them altogether and now I am finding myself struggling with importing them so they can be edited and translated. My "success" so far has been to make them visible as tags in Studio's editor but not as translatable content.

I understand that I somehow need to define the "MadCap:keyword" and/or "MadCap:keyword term" element as an editable element in the HTML 5 settings but having tried various options, I am now pretty much at my wit's end.

Thank you in advance for any input on this!
