Enter this regex in the Advanced Display Filter:
\d+\. \w+ \d{4} ..

This should find a space in front of the tag.

Question: Why can I not attach a file? I do not see any "Attachment" button

I've just found out that you can colour the word double clicking on it and then pressing the ctrl + comma buttons and selecting "sample text" (if this option isn't visible just try to scroll down in the field with the cursor end press enter). However, it works only if there's a corresponding coloured text in the source. I'm so glad I figured it out, it will save me a lot of time!

Studio 2017: Questions about File Analysis/Confirmation Statistics

Dear colleagues,

I have imported a somewhat complex MemoQ file into Trados having a mix of 2 source languages and different segment statuses, also locked segments. I notice that when I change the Project Settings to exclude locked segments from the statistics, or making them a 'separate category' , still the numbers in the statistics don't change. I have build from scratch different projects for the file and re-imported the document, but still no different numbers in the stats, also no separate entry for locked segments.
Is this a known program bug, or how does Trados handle locked segments for the analysis / confirmation statistics?
This is very important for me to check the amount of words/segments to be translated and see if they match my PO.

Thanks very much for anyone to clarify!
Mike

In the meantime, I have taken a closer look at the Confirmation Statistics, and I see that when adding up the segments the total always include locked segments - which I DON'T want.
Now, is there a way to take out locked segments from the confirmation stats?

I would like to see the statuses 'translated', 'draft', 'not translated' etc. for non-locked segments only; I know that I can filter on those segments, but I notice that not even in the Editor View the stats are updated correctly.

Thanks,

Hi,

I do not have a SDL Trados 2014 version anymore, but 2017 instead, so I cannot give you a walk-through, but the setting to fix this will be in a similar location.

Please check your Translation Memory Update Settings, you should find similar settings there.

Here is a link to the Help Topic for 2017 explaining the different setting for TM updating:

And here is a link to an older SDL Trados version (2014?) help topic dealing with the same settings under line item 3.

Hope this helps

Kind regards,
Uta

I don't understand the „{4} “ part of your code, but I put it in WORD section of QA Checher and it works great. I didn't manage to get it work in Regular expressions segment but it doesn't matter.

Thank you!

(It might be that attachment option only comes with payed accounts like pasting screenshots does. Upgrading membership cost 300$ per year)

Post title: this code is not TAG related

I tested a code today on a whole document and it's not what I am looking for.

I have many dates in my translations and a lot of them must be followed by a space, like I already said.

That's why I am looking for a way to include a TAG in a code.

Hi Uta, thank you.
my problem is that I am working with .xliff bilingual files that were already translated, I am supposed to review them.

I have a TM set to NOT add new translation units, but replace existing.

Every time a new bilingual file and set to use that TM, the file opens with all segments in status 'translated', but they are immediately shown as being incorporated to that TM and appear as additional to the same segments existing in that TM.

So something happens when I open the file that automatically transfers all its segments to the TM.

To give a clear example, in case I am not making myself understood.

I work in file 1, which has the segment "Drink coffee". I edit to "Drink more coffe". Save. close. TM has "Drink more coffe".

Now I go to file 2, which has the same segment. When I open the file, same TM now shows "Drink Coffee' (1st place). "Drink more coffe" (2nd place).

To me, the logical and usual behavior would be that Trados immediately points out a mismatch that shows me, in the segment the translation differs from TM (the usual orange blinking alert).

I cannot figure out WHY by simply opening a new file, all its segments are transferred to the TM.

I have tried to manage the TM settings but with no success. Everytime I have to rely on my memory and scroll down the TM window to see if in the previous file I have used that or that editing.

For now, my work is like shit and I already know I am providing different solutions with slightly changes here and there.

- IF I could make the .xliff file to be open either with segments all as DRAFT or simply by not being automatically added to TM, then the mismatch would be shown. Instead, so far I have cases of 4 translations to the same segment. And I have dozens of small files to go...

Sorry for the long explanation, but maybe that helps somebody to help me :)

Best,

There, got that out of my system.

I have a permanent warning/reminder on my whiteboard that says "NEVER USE STUDIO AGAIN!" because every single time I use the program, something goes wrong at the very end, once I've finished translating, and I end up having to google thousands of error reports and waste a ton of my time.

I hate this program with a passion. The only reason I use it is because a lot of clients (agencies) own it and are stuck with it.

...as usual, I am now going to waste at least an hour trying to get my darned project to open, so I can generate the stupid Return package so I can send it to my client. And all this while I need to start on my next job, thankfully one I don't have to use Studio for.

Anyone know what to do when you get told:

"Cannot validate SDL plug-in: Sdl.ProjectAutomation.AutomaticTasks.WIPReport.WIPReportTask, Sdl.ProjectAutomation.AutomaticTasks.WIPReport, Version= [IP removed] , Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c28cdb26c445c888"?

Just tell them the facts: you cannot work with the [unprintable]ing thing.

You can work with whatever tool suits you nice.

Generating packages shouldn't be your task anyway: you are a translator, not a PM.

Yeah, I'll try that, as usual. It's just that it is SO tedious, having to go ask for help in the Community forums pretty much every time I use the program. Their paid support should be free, seeing as how the program is such a bugfest.

When I started working with OmegaT, I had problems like paragraphs gone to oblivion. Once I learned how to fix it, everything was fine. I discussed it with some translators. Most of them say OmegaT sucks and TRADOS is the best, but noone seems to be able to tell me why. Of course, I know that it is almost standard now. Still...

MemoQ and Studio are compatible so when I receive a package in Trados, I simply load it into MemoQ, work as normal and then when I create the return package, MemoQ kindly puts it back into Trados for me ....

Yeah, I do something similar: I translate Studio projects in Memsource these days (or CafeTran), but the weakest link is always once the files are back in Studio, to run a final check. It's amazing how often this goes wrong.

As usual, the quickest way to solve the problem was to completely uninstall the Studio (using Revo Uninstaller, which removes EVERYTHING, also the stuff in your Windows registry), reinstall it, and then recreate the project and pretranslate it using a separate TM (which I always make sure I have when working with Studio packages/projects).

On to my next job now, thankfully in Memsource this time!

That's what I've been doing for years as well. The client doesn't appear to even know I didn't use Studio.
