In the MetaTexis users forum on Yahoo I received a reply from Hermann Bruns, the creator of MetaTexis, who explained the following:
"You get this message probably, because TRADOS is calling up the Word
application somehow (maybe hidden), and because MetaTexis is integrated in
Word, it is also called up.
But the issue is not critical, it is only annoying. The fact Word cannot
save the MetaTexis.dot is no issue, at all. Just click Cancel or OK, and you
are fine.
You might even be able to get rid of the message by install the beta version
of a completely new MetaTexis version that is based on a different
development environment."
So I uninstalled MetaTexis, installed the new version to which he provided a link, and now both programs are working smoothly.
