Topic: SDL Studio 2011 slow to display project list
Poster: Gavin Weakley
Lately it has been taking at least 5 seconds for Studio to respond to commands again each time I go into the Projects view. Since I am constantly going in and out of projects, this has led to a lot of teeth grinding!
SDL Trados seem to think performance issues are mostly related to antivirus issues. But I turned my antivirus off and it made no difference.
I also deleted my settings files (in /Users/xxx/AppData/Roaming/SDL/SDL Trados Studio/ [IP removed] ). I moved the three xml files to a backup folder, and then Studio creates new ones on startup. This has helped resolve some issues in the past, but not this one.
Finally I worked out where the project list is stored:
C:/Users/xxx/Documents/Studio 2011/Projects/projects.xml
I renamed this file to projects_old.xml, and restarted Studio. It opened with a blank projects list. I then located the .sdlproj files for the 3-4 projects I am currently working on and double-clicked on these. Studio opened them again and added them to the list. And voila! The projects view now displays instantly! What a relief.
It is possible that removing projects from your list (not just marking as complete) may achieve the same effect. But I removed about half of them one day and it made no difference to the 5 second wait.
