Hi!
I'm translating a long pdf-file (70.000 words). I will have to hand in the translation to the customer as a word file. After I added comments to some target segments and used the "save target as" option, thus saving the file as a word file, an error message occurs when I try to open that word file.
It reads (more or less, I use a German version of Word 2010):
"The file 'bla bla bla' cannot be opened, because it's content causes problems."
Clicking on "Details", it says: "The file is damaged and cannot be opened."
Clicking "ok" informs me that: "Non-readable content was detected. Do you want to restore the content of the document? Click "yes" when you trust the file source."
I did click yes and found the target file as a word file, the comments were there, but empty.
I deleted the comments in Trados and then everything went fine. So it seems to be the comments! Why do they get lost during the conversion to word?
Any ideas how to save the comments when "saving target as"???
At some point, I converted the source pdf-document into a word file and used this as the source document for Trados, but this caused all kinds of wild things with page breaks etc., if I remember correctly.
Page breaks are also strange now, using the pdf file. This is a altogether different issue, I assume, and probably due to pdf-files being often problematic, right? Still, input would be most be welcome on this aswell!
PS. I am new to CAT tools, since I used to work mostly as a literary translator. So be gentle with specialist terms, thank you!!!
