I don't know. Maybe because that's what software developers just prefer to spend their time with, or because it's easier than actually solving bugs of the existing version? I can't wait to hear how many of these will still be present in the new version - I bet it's quite a substantial amount. As others have said, I won't be able to tell from personal experience before SP2 is out, if at all.
