I have a source file, a list of deviations from a production process, in a large table (two columns: deviation no., description of deviation).
I translated it by hand in Excel, and now I want to add the data into my Trados database.
I'm trying to do this using WinAlign (SDL Trados 2011).
I copied the source table into an MS Word document titled "source", the translated table into another document titled "target".
When I run WinAlign, it gets everything out of whack, although the two tables have the same number of entries.
It would take ages to manually readjust its alignment.

Is there something I can do - maybe fiddle with the settings somehow - to make it see that it should just align the table entries? For some reason it splits a sentence apart each time it comes across a colon (":").

Maybe there is a way to tell it: "align each subsequent table entry with each subsequent table entry, disregarding the colons, periods and other punctuation signs".

I would suggest you give it a try after you "convert table to text" for both files and replace the colons with Tabs or other symbols.
