Trados Studio 2014 - pre-translating files

I am working with Trados Studio 2014. Yesterday I downloaded an automatic update for Studio, and at the same time BeGlobal TM was made inactive and SDL Language Cloud was made active.

I have tried to pre-translate a file I am working on but my Studio comes up with an error: The translation provider threw an exception. Before yesterday's update everything worked fine.

Please help - it would be much appreciated!

MultiTerm entries show warning about "active content"

Here we go again: Another Trados 2014 update (11.1.4084.0) and a new MultiTerm issue.

After having updated to the latest build (Trados Studio 2014 Freelance), whenever I add a new term to a MultiTerm termbase in the Trados Editor, a warning message is being displayed, informing me that the "displaying of active contents that may access computers has been restricted for security reasons". I can click on this as on any Windows warning message and get the option to "Allow blocked content...".

Yet, when I do so, the content of the TermBase window in Trados Editor is replaced by an error message (looks like Internet Explorer framed in the TermBase window, which is weird enough) stating that the content of that page could not be accessed.

Luckily, next time I try to add a new term, I have my TermBase window back, but once again with the pesky and confusing warning.

Two questions:

1. What does it mean?

2. How do I get rid of it?

Any help would be appreciated.

When trying to open Studio, I get two messages:

An unexpected error has occurred while loading the global plug-in services

followed by another error message:

Value cannot be null. Parameter name:license
Obviously, I do have a license.

- Uninstalled/reinstalled Studio 2014
- Deleted the 3 user setting files in the AppData/Roaming directory per Knowledge Base
- Repaired installation
- Rebooted.

No go.

Did a system restore to August 4th this morning because of a different issue. This is why I would prefer not to go that route.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I had the same issue when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and reinstalled Studio 2014 and Multiterm a few days ago.

The following solution worked for me:

Studio 2014/ Target file generated in source langague | Resolved! Split tool creates a bug

Post title: Resolved! Split tool creates a bug

Thanks Amnon.

The agency finally managed to solve the issue, I explain shortly as it might be helpful to other Trados users.

The problem comes from the fact that I split some segments during translation: several sentences were unduly "glued" together in source so I needed to split them in order to benefit from repetitions. But it creates a bug...

So I had to apply the TM to a fresh file and manually re-translate those segments which couldn't be split - now I obtain my target file in French.
I occasionally use the "SPLIT" tool and it is the first time it happens, quite strange!

Kind regards,
Corinne

Hi,

I would like to add SDL BeGlobal. It needs information of Account ID, User ID, API Key, Touchpoint ID.

Where can I find this information?

Thank you very much.

Missing bookmark end tag with name error, trados studio 2009 | Same issue - got SOLVED in my case but I'm not sure how

I also received the error message "Missing bookmark end tag with name: _Ref [phone removed] . Writing to Word document not possible" when trying to save the target word file in Studio 2011.

When clicking on the error in verification (F8), like FarkasAndras I got only taken to the 'first row' in the Studio file (with the file name+location), so the location of the missing tag segment was unclear.
Fortunately there weren't many tags in the file, so I concluded that the error must concern one of two 'repeated headline' segments. I used copy source to target and manually included the translation text, to ensure that the tags were intact.
Then I tried to save the target Word file, only to receive the same error message as before.
Crucially though, I'm not sure now whether I had saved the Studio file before saving to target.

Clutching at any straw, I finally tried running the (free) QA programme ApSIC Xbench on the Studio SDLXLIFF file to see if it would find any tag-related error.
As for the findings displayed, it didn't -
But when I then tried to save the Studio file to target, it DID finally work.
I'm not quite sure what did the trick - either I managed to manually restore the missing tag (which didn't show at first, because I failed to save the Studio file before saving to target, as indicated above), OR ApSIC Xbench made some basic adjustment to the file.

Anyway, it may help to activate the tag viewing mode 'full tag text' so you can at least manually search for the segment with the repective bookend tag name which the error may concern.
In my case, the headline (segment) which contained the missing tag showed up in the clean Word file as untranslated (despite my manual adjustments), but at least it didn't block the file conversion any more.
It would really help if Trados could come up with a solution for this, like a better tag verification + localisation + correction.

Hi Sussanne,

thanks for the feedback. I tried it (and read the blog entry), but I still see the issue.

This may be related, but the fix must be different. It looks like Trados trying to access an invalid (as in faulty, offline, denied, etc.) internet address, either to check a certificate or for something else.

SDL should really find a solution without Java for MultiTerm.

Sigh,

Peter

Hello
if you would like to use free machine translation - the new way to access it is through Language Cloud. This gives you 600,000 free character per month.

The alternative is the full BeGlobal engine - which you either purchase from our sales team - or someone could be giving you access to it and then they would pass to you all the API details. etc.

You can find more information about Language Cloud here:

... the appropriate option for you? If you just want the free account then you need to make sure that you choose this in your account and then you will continue to take advantage of free Machine Translation as you did before, only now it will be via Language Cloud as opposed to BeGlobal Community, and it is limited as follows:

Studio 2011 : 4000 words per day
Studio 2014 : 600,000 characters per month

You can extend this limit if you have Studio 2014 by purchasing one of the various options available to you.

The available engines with English source language you have mentioned are the specific trained vertical engines that are currently available to you if you subscribe to them. These will provide a better quality Machine Translation for the vertical you are translating in. If you are translating a different language pair or language direction then you will only be able to access the baselines that were available to you in the past via BeGlobal Community.

Hello, has anyone some experience about, how to move DB from one system into another.
We have bought a new HW and SW. Our old Groupshare 2014 is installed on Win2008 and SQL 2008 but the new system runs on new PH server with Win2012 and SQL 2014. How can we move all the Data (structure, fields...) to the new machine. I was not been able to find info i the official SDL documentation.
Thanks

Thanks Paul

I'm not sure why changing my subscription from Trial to Free should make a difference, as the Free subscription offers less than the Trial (unsurprisingly).

I changed my subscription now anyway, and it has made no difference - nothing appears in Translation Results" for the SDL Cloud.

When you wrote "you will only be able to access the baselines that were available to you in the past via BeGlobal Community", did you mean theoretically available to me, or those I actually used? In fact I have been using the MyMemory plugin, not BeGlobal.
