Topic: Java Virtual Machine error in Tageditor 2007 after installing Studio 2014

Hi all,
I recently began having problems using TagEditor (Trados 2007 Freelance).
Sometimes when I open a segment I get a "Failed to create Java Virtual Machine" error.
My pc runs on Windows XP SP3.
The problems started after I installed Trados Studio 2014 Freelance (which I do not use yet, BTW).
The TagEditor files are fairly small .ttx files that I get delivered from my customer. The source files are .pdf files.
I work this way already a long time and never had problems with it. Atleast not before installing Studio.
Here's what I tried so far:
1) Changing Java minimum and maximum memory in Filter Settings as described here: [url removed]
I tried increasing as well as decreasing memory but it did not help.
2) In Windows: "Control Panel / Java / tab 'Java' / View". There I see 4 entries. The most recent one is 'platform 1.7' (jre7). This was installed with Studio 2014.
The second one is 'platform 1.6' (jre6). Since I do not use Studio yet, I disabled version 1.7.
That didn't help either.
3) My pc has 4GB RAM. but under Windows XP, programs can not use more then 2GB, default. There is a way to change this to 3GB, which I did.
To do this, change the boot.ini file as described here: [url removed] under "Enable the 3GB switch on Windows XP".
That didn't help either.
I could try using a RAM optimizer but since the ttx files are small and I have 4GB RAM, I don't have high hopes for this to work.
Meanwhile I heard from atleast two other contacts who are experiencing the same problems after installing Studio 2014.
This was exactly the kind of problems I was afraid of before installing Studio 2014. Therefore, I specifically asked SDL if Trados 2007 Freelance and Trados Studio 2014 can work next to each other. "Yes, they can without any problem"...
Strange that SDL has not recognised this issue.
Anyway, can anyone recommend something else I can try? (other than uninstalling Studio 2014?).
PS. I can not uninstall Trados 2007. I still need it for customers.
Kind regards
Raimundo
