Post title: Studio 2011 Non-start still not resolved
Hi All,
I have instituted all of the fixes discussed above (and on SDL Support), to no avail (I am running Win7 Ultimate). I still get the "Unexpected error due to failure to load plug-ins" and no Studio...including in the Apps list in Task Manager. I get some instances of the various Nalpeiron services/exe/apps in Processes and Services, but even after using the SDL fix to reinstall those, do not get them all. I have likewise retrograded Java to v. 25, with no luck.
There seems to be little point in re-installing Studio if a) others have found that this does not solve the problem permanently and b) one still has to go through the hassle of requesting special authorization to deactivate and re-activate their license (it not being available to de-activate if Studio doesn't run).
2 additional notes: 1) I have submitted a "layman's" request to SDL for support, which they have been quite reasonable about respoding to in the past; 2) When I inquired how much it would cost to subscribe to the SDL Paid Maintenance Support contract, the first (and so far only) response was that I would have to buy Studio 2014 before I could buy the support contract. While this may not be illegal as a business practice, it is certainly despicable and not likely to endear SDL to users who already find it expensive and difficult to manage.
Any new suggestions for fixing the "non-starter" problem would be most welcome.
