Sorry, I got that wrong.
I don't think there is a way to set a different number of keystrokes before a suggestion is offered. I see what you mean about just saving 3 keystrokes in a 7-letter word, but if the minimum number were set any lower, you would be offered a multitude of useless suggestions to pick from.
So maybe that's why the number can't be adjusted?
