Post title: Step by step

I have translated a word document using the editor in SDL Trados 2019 and I have clicked file > save target text. I have even checked and verified the documents and the tags before (F8).

There might be a tag problem here. I would run a Verify on the translation to see if some tags are misplaced or something.

Also, I must confess I have never used your way of doing it.

Instead I am doing it as follows:
Home > Batch task > Generate Target Translations

So I can see why I misunderstood you.

Peter, I have found that occasionally comments in the text can prevent saving of target text.

I have run a Verify on the translation and corrected tags and I have generated the target translation with a batch task but the result is the same. I only get the source text as a result.

I think it has something to do with the error message and the missing related file. I have even deinstalled and installed SDL Trados 2019 again but I can get the source text when I want to save the target text.

Thank you for your reply. Do I convert the pdf into Word before uploading it into Studio or once it has been uploaded, view it in Word and then change it there?

Thank you

Sorry, I forgot to mention this - the first segment is a heading and the second is listed as a paragraph but it is part of the heading.

In SDL Trados Studio 2017, how can I add a second translation version to an existing TM unit? In Studio 2011, the feature was available, but it does not work that way for 2017. Can you help me?

I use SDL Trados Studio 2017. Can I mark some text fragments in my source file to prevent them from appearing in the SDL project (this text should not be translated)? I know this can be done by marking the text in red in DejaVu. Does SDL support the feature?

Thank you [/quote]

I would convert the pdf to Word first and then import it into Studio.

The best would, of course, be if you could get the original from the client. A pdf is a generated document based on some other sort, although if it originally is an Indesign document, this may not solve your problem.

Post title: Try hiding the text in the source document

I mainly work in Dejavu, and mostly receive Studio jobs as packages or sdlxliff file so I don't have to be concerned with text that should not be imported.

But I know that Dejavu now supports not importing text (cells) that are hidden in Excel, so it may well be that this is the case in Studio also. At least I would try that.

If the text isn't a full cell, at least I'd try marking it with red as for Dejavu, but I suspect you have already tried that road.

I wonder what key ADD is - the + key on the number keyboard I wonder?

Anyway, I wasn't even aware of the new combination. I am using Ctr+Enter and Ctr+Alt+Enter to confirm segments and move to the next interesting segment.

Hi, this shortcut adds a new translation for the segment. See in "Options" - "Keyboard shortcuts": "Add as a new translation" (translated from my Spanish version of Studio).

Hope it helps

Post title: Why do you mention text marked with red?

You mentioned that with Dejavu you can mark text in red to show that it should not be imported. But this is for Excel sheets. For .doc and .docx files you hide the text you don't want imported, and tells Dejavu that it should disregard it.

I would have thought that this is the same with Studio, although I have not checked if you have a special setting for not importing hidden text.

Hi,
when trying to access my SDL account a form opens where I should complete my registration (even though I am already registered). The problem is the form will not accept my VAT (with or without country in front of the VAT number - IT).
How can I access my account?
Thanks
